Stuart Tinney: Jul/15

June and early July have seen Tinney Eventing through back to back events. Gemma has now qualified for the nationals after the state interschools where she placed in the Eventing on Prado and Carlchen (4th and 2nd). Carlchen is showing his hand in the show jumping too, Placing 2nd at 1.20m. Gemma also won the bare back AGAIN - This time at only 1.60m! The ENSW are doing a fabulous job with so many events to organize while the weather has not been ideal.

The Eventing season is well underway; however the calendar is a little sporadic, giving some hectic weeks, then a lull. We have Sydney (25/26 July) then a few weeks until we are out again. Stuart is very busy with the Cross Country design of Sydney. The big picture this year is Adelaide in November where we hope to run 3 horses, Pluto, War Hawk and Annapurna.

Straight after Interschools Gemma went off to Denman to run Prado and Thai around the pre-nov. She had a great result for her first competition on Thai (5th) and 7th for Prado. She plans to go 1 star on Prado at Sydney ODE and with Quirindi CCI* under her belt with Thai into 2 star at Sydney. Prado has been a fabulous purchase for Gemma; he has a great disposition and tries really hard every ride. A rare quality; we hope to see Prado in 2 star very shortly.

The week after Denman Stuart and Gemma head to QUIRINDI - with a cold snap over the weekend everyone including horses/riders/officials froze!! Stuart took a catch ride on Shane Rose's horse "Biscuit", Shane is still recovering after a terrible fall which put him out of action for many weeks. Both of Stuarts rides Carl and Biscuit in the CCI** performed well to take out 1st and 2nd.

QUIRINDI was certainly an event that tested most; mainly the elements, as a total FREEZE brought out the winter garments, head to toe. The event was very well run and the cross country course rode very smoothly however the ground was effected with the frost. Stuart took Pluto and Anna out to start up their campaign towards Adelaide – although we’re not sure if Anna and Pluto felt this was the right choice! It was great to have them back at comps and we are looking forward to the next few months with some great events for them: Sydney, Equestriad, Goulburn then Adelaide.

NEWS FLASH! Stuart and Shane will take a short trip to RIO for the test event in August.

CopRice continues to support the Interschool’s with this excellent stand of prizes and giveaways.

Keep an eye out for future promotions and competitions on the TINNEY EVENTING face book page.
