Saddle up for Lynton
Goulburn Post, 9 October 2013
OLYMPIC gold medallist Stuart Tinney can expect be to in the cross hairs of hundreds of rivals this month.
The defending NSW State Eventing Champion is again set to vie for top prize at the Lynton-hosted titles on the weekend of October 19-20.
Organisers are anticipating some 350 horses and riders, including many from interstate and the odd competitor from outside Australia. They’ll pit their skills against one another and an upgraded Lynton circuit – situated on a picturesque Range Road property.
The Championship doubles as a chance for riders to prepare their horses for the Adelaide International, conducted over three days in November.
The International marks selection trials for the World Equestrian Games, to be held in historic Normandy, France, next year. Local riders Madeline Prell, Stephanie Rose and Inger Sutherland (formally of Goulburn and still close by at Gundaroo) will be competing in the lower grades.
Spectators are encouraged to watch the cross country – contested between lunchtime and 5pm on the Saturday, and from 9.30am until lunch on the Sunday.
