Shane Davidson: May/13

From Toowoomba to Taiwan:
Davidson to coach Taiwan's elite coaches and riders

Toowoomba equestrian coach Shane Davidson will spend one week in May and June coaching up and coming equestrian coaches and riders in Taiwan.

Shane, an Equestrian Australia NCAS accredited coach who was named 2011 Equestrian Queensland Coach of the Year, was asked by the National Federation of Taiwan to provide professional coaching to current instructors and riders who wish to advance their teaching and riding skills.

Shane says he jumped at the chance to work with Taiwan’s existing coaches and riders who wish to further develop their skills as equestrian coaches.

“I will be working with Level C and B instructors, which are the two levels below instructors who coach the Taiwanese National team in overseas competitions,” said Shane.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to work closely with these coaches to help them advance to the next stage in their coaching career,” he said.

Despite this being Shane’s first trip to Asia, he has international experience coaching riders in Germany and has conducted “Coach the Coach” sessions as well as regular clinics throughout Australia.

Shane said working with other coaches helps him to constantly develop and progress both as a coach and a rider.

“It is very rewarding and inspiring to see the people that you’ve worked with developing as coaches and getting great results with their riders,” said Shane.

“I’m really looking forward to learning new things from the coaches and the riders I’ll be working with while I’m in Taiwan,” he said.

Shane’s trip to Taiwan will follow an intensive six days of coaching throughout Queensland, travelling to Ipswich on 21 May, Hughenden from 22-24 May and Townsville from 25-26 May.

Shane’s wife Mattea, who was Equestrian Queensland Sport Star of the Year for 2012, will also be busy over the coming weeks, attending the Warwick Horse Trials this weekend, coaching at Toowoomba on 28-29 May and competing at the Burpengary One Day Event from 2-3 June.
