CopRice Leeton CopRice is a division of the farmer owned company Ricegrowers Limited trading as SunRice. The CopRice Leeton feedmill was deliberately built along side the Leeton rice mill to enable the efficient use of rice milling byproducts, namely rice hulls and rice pollard. The feed mill at Leeton was established in 1978 and initially produced meals for stockfeed that utilised ground hulls and rice pollard that are byproducts of the rice milling process. The ground hulls and rice pollard were also sold to other stockfeed millers for inclusion in animal feeds. The process added little value to the feeds, but it did alleviate the growing problem of rice byproducts disposal.
The development of stockfeed milling enabled CopRice to further evaluate rice milling byproducts through its own research and development program. Today, CopRice Leeton is a fully automated feed mill that relies on its high standard of service and quality to meet its customer demands. CopRice Leeton currently produces 1000 tonnes per week of pelleted stockfeed and companion animal products. CopRice Leeton produces products for the Australian domestic market along with a number of specialized products for export. CopRice has exported to a number of Middle Eastern countries, Papua New Guinea, Korea, New Zealand, and Pacific Islands and has produced products that have been sent to countries such as Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Thailand. |
