CopRice Premium Calf Pellets are a top quality, highly palatable starter that helps to ensure early intake, rapid rumen development and fast, efficient growth.

Fortified with vitamins, minerals and trace elements, CopRice Premium Calf Pellets are an ideal first dry feed for newborns right up to weaning or to approximately three months of age.

CopRice Premium Calf Pellets contain a superior rumen buffer, which reduces the risk of digestive upsets such as acidosis. Lasalocid sodium, a rumen modifier, is added to help in the prevention of coccidiosis. Both buffer and modifier help to achieve efficient rumen development, helping to improve growth rate and feed conversion.

CopRice Premium Calf Pellets contain a balanced starch profile, providing the specific energy required for rumen development, and include the B Group Vitamins which are required for growth and digestion for young ruminants.

Feeding Guidelines

  • Feed CopRice Premium Calf Pellets without restriction. Offer free access from day two to weaning. This will achieve the best feed intake and weight gains.
  • Adding a coccidiostat to the milk is strongly recommended prior to calves eating adequate amount of CopRice calf pellet. Consult your nutritionist to discuss this option to ensure that calves are not overdosed.
  • Calves should be offered good quality cereal straw from day two onwards as a source of roughage. CopRice Premium Calf pellets will provide all the protein and other nutrients required.
  • Weaning the calf off milk should be achieved when the consumption of pellets reaches more than 1 kg/day.
  • Once calves are weaned and introduced to pasture, CopRice Heifer Rearer pellets should be fed.
  • Clean and fresh water should always be available.

While on milk, a calf does not have a fully functional rumen. Pellets and grass, together with some roughage, ensure optimal rumen development. Calves should be given access to pasture while still on pellets and milk to reduce the risk of weaning setbacks.

Calves should be housed in a dry environment and away from adult animals. Wet conditions and low temperatures can be detrimental for calves.
