CopRice Beef Finisher Pellets

CopRice produces a number of different pellets for different situations. Our ausbeef is designed to be fed to cattle on limited pasture or in a lot-feeding situation. The pellet is a balanced ration containing calcium, phosphorus, sodium bentonite and vitamins & minerals.

The ausbeef ration has been perfected after a number of feeding trials at the Hamilton Pastoral and Veterinary Institute.

Here are a few tips about feeding beef cattle

• Never feed less than 30% hay/silage in the diet, we would prefer about 60% hay/silage in the diet.
• Cattle will generally eat 3 to 4% of their body weight per day. For example a 400-kg steer is likely to eat 12 to 16 kg of dry matter per day.
• Introduce any concentrate slowly, over 2 - 3 weeks.
• Make sure all animals can get access to all feeds.
• Feeding less than 14% protein is likely to result in over fat animals.
• Growth rates of up to 2 kg/hd/day are achievable in 400 kg steers.
• Rumen modifiers such as Rumensin® and Tylan® may be included for better feed conversion and to reduce the chances of grain overload. Please note, some end markets may not allow these rumen modifiers to be used.
